The first quarter of the new year has flown by and I find myself looking at my May calendar! We have long since shed our winter coats and snow boots for fresh spring clothes and sandals that show our toes! I planted yellow crocus bulbs in my garden last fall and they are now in full bloom beneath my dining room windows! Ahhh, what a welcome addition to my garden. My daughter Ashley and I always look forward to planting our vegetable garden each spring, and have already started some tomatoes in containers, which we move in and out with the weather and frost warnings.

Our son Daniel is studying for his last week of spring semester at college and will be driving to Maine with his dad this weekend for a long weekend and to pick up a new car. I would say that it's more than a right of passage trip than anything and I am very excited for them. Russ has traveled to Poland twice since January and China most recently for his job. He really loves Poland and was saddened to hear about the death of the Polish president while he was away in China. One of the benefits of his travels is that while we do not usually get to go along for the ride, he always brings back elaborate silk scarves and gifts made by the local people. I have a collection of beautiful shawls and scarves that he has purchased around the world. He has asked me to apply for my passport, as he is taking me somewhere out of the country for our anniversary in October (I'm thinking it will be Krakow, Poland)!

Book Expo America is in just a few short weeks and I have been up to my knees trying to put the finishing touches on some manuscripts. I know that all good things take sacrifice and I am very much looking forward to seeing my books on the shelves at the largest book show in the world!

Happy Spring...live, love, laugh and fly freely!
